Honoring our Past. Empowering our Future
A National Digital Museum and VR experience dedicated to the history, struggles and contributions of Malaysian Indians.

what are we doing?
We are building the Malaysian Indian Heritage Museum (MIHM) – a digital-first museum, archive and 3D Virtual Museum that tells the true story of Malaysian Indians.
From the first ships that arrived from India… to the railways, roads and rubber estates built with Indian labour… to the sacrifices during the Japanese Occupation and Emergency… to the doctors, teachers, artists and leaders of today – this story has never been properly told in one place.
MIHM will change that.
Our goal is simple:
-
Preserve our history so it is never forgotten.
-
Teach the next generation who they are and what their ancestors went through.
-
Unite our community on one platform.
-
Stand for our rights using truth, facts and history.

How will we do it ?

digital archives
Historical Splendor
We are collecting documents, photos, artefacts and stories from estates, families, historians and national archives. All of this will be preserved online for public access.

3D VIRTUAL MUSEUM
Aesthetic Harmony
We are building a fully immersive 3D museum where you can walk through our history – from ship to estate, from union halls to modern Malaysia – on your phone, laptop or VR headset.

Education for the next generation
Knowledge Enrichment
We are working with schools teachers, researchers to create learning materials, videos and VR field trips so that children understand our history with pride – not shame.

Community & rights platform
Connecting Cultures
We will provide history-based awareness on labour rights, citizenship, education, discrimination and support networks – grounded in our past struggles. This museum will be built with the community. Anyone can submit stories, photos or materials to be preserved for future generations

Why Does This Matter Now?

A lot of our history is disappearing:
-
Old estate houses are being demolished.
-
Elderly workers are passing away.
-
Many young Indians don’t know what their grandparents went through.
If we don’t record this now, we will lose it forever.
The Indian Museum of Malaysia is about more than the past. It is about identity and dignity for the future.
When the next generation knows their history, they stand taller, speak clearer and fight smarter for their place in this country.

For the Next Generation
We want every Malaysian-Indian child to be able to say:
“I know where I come from. I know what my people built. I know what they endured. And I know where we can go next."

This Museum Belongs to All of Us
MIHM is not just a project by a few people. It is a national effort from the Indian community in Malaysia and abroad.
You can help by:
-
Sharing your family’s story.
-
Contributing old photos, letters or estate documents.
-
Volunteering your time or skills. Supporting our funding campaigns.
Together, we can make sure our history is never erased again.
